History / Importance
Sant Dev Mamledar Yashwantrao Maharaj was a prominent saint of the 18th century and a devoted disciple of Swami Samarth. He is remembered not only for his spiritual stature but also for his extraordinary sense of service and sacrifice. According to religious beliefs, he was blessed with the darshan of Bhagwan Vishnu, which further elevated his spiritual significance among followers.
During the severe famine of 1870–71 in Satana, Yashwantrao Maharaj, who was serving as a Taluka Mamledar (Magistrate), selflessly used his personal wealth to help the starving population. When his resources were exhausted, he even distributed funds from the government treasury to save lives. Later, when an official inquiry was conducted, it was astonishingly found that not a single rupee was missing from the treasury, an incident devotees regard as divine intervention.
His Samadhi is located in Satana near Nashik, while the Panchavati temple stands as a symbol of his life, teachings, and humanitarian values. Sant Yashwantrao Maharaj attained samadhi and merged with the Supreme Truth in 1887.
